How does one study a Hull ID Quantity?

The Hull Identification Variety (HIN) is really a 12- or fourteen-character serial amount that uniquely identifies a boat. The HIN is analogous to the VIN on a car.

The primary three digits would be the Producer’s Identification Code (ex. Boat brand name for instance Sea Ray, Meridian, etcetera.). The four digits following that are classified as the maker’s serial selection with the boat. The third and 4th digits within the close are the day of manufacture. The letter to the date in the manufacture corresponds for the month from the year, i.e. A = January, B = February, C = March and so on. The final two digits on the HIN amount symbolize the model calendar year.

All boats created or imported on or just after November 1, 1972, need to bear a HIN, and this HIN needs to be determined through boat registration. Vessels produced or imported prior to 1972 are EXEMPT because they normally do not need a HIN.
